Anthropic announced on October 8, 2026 that it is committing $150 million over three years to the Genesis Mission, a federal initiative to accelerate scientific and technological discovery through AI. Anthropic said the funding will go toward making Claude available to more than 15 agencies participating in the mission, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.
The company made the announcement as part of the Science: A New Golden Age Summit, hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in Washington, DC. Anthropic said it shares the administration’s view, laid out in the document “Science: A New Golden Age,” that AI can have a profound and positive impact on scientific discovery, and that it was glad to back the administration’s efforts to support American scientists.
Anthropic said that over the next three years it will provide Claude, Claude Code, and API credits to several hundred Genesis Mission research projects. The company also said it will partner closely with agencies and national laboratories on the administration’s top science priorities, which the announcement identifies as including fusion energy and quantum computing.
A third funded area covers training, onboarding, and technical support for scientists working on Genesis Mission projects, along with assistance for agencies new to the mission in getting their first projects running.
The company described the commitment as a way to help researchers at federal agencies and national laboratories use Claude to meaningfully advance their work on what it called some of the world’s most difficult scientific problems.
