Bloomberg announced on October 1, 2026 that it has completed its acquisition of Canoe Intelligence, an AI-powered data management and intelligence platform that automates private markets data collection and delivery, following a definitive agreement Bloomberg announced on July 29, 2026.
Bloomberg described the completed transaction as the next step in its strategy to deliver unified data, analytics, and tools that power end-to-end workflows across public and private markets. According to the company, Canoe functions as a translation layer for unstructured private markets information: it automates the collection and validation of data, then delivers it in a structured, portfolio-ready format into downstream systems such as Bloomberg PORT Enterprise, the firm’s premium portfolio and risk analytics offering.
With the transaction closed, joint clients can use the existing Canoe–PORT Enterprise integration immediately. Permissioned, validated private fund data from Canoe flows directly into PORT Enterprise, supporting what Bloomberg calls a Total Portfolio View across public and private assets and streamlining post-investment workflows. Bloomberg said Canoe clients will continue to receive their existing dedicated service, now backed by increased investment in Canoe’s technology platform.
Bloomberg said pairing Canoe’s work in sourcing, structuring, and validating permissioned private fund data with its own data management expertise, technology, and scale is intended to expand value across the full investment lifecycle. The company outlined five areas of planned development. The first is advancing Canoe’s core offering by expanding its capabilities and global reach while investing in technology and data management, with the stated goal of delivering more timely, accurate, and complete private markets data.
The second is a fully integrated Total Portfolio View: a deeper, automated post-investment workflow for exposure and risk analysis, cash management, and underlying holdings look-through, underpinned by an integrated Investment Book of Record across public and private
